Vietnam Opens Real Estate Sector To Foreigners

Investors from Qatar and other countries can now buy properties in Vietnam with open ownership for a period of 50 years, as a result of opening up of the real estate sector to foreign investors. After 50 years, investors have to resell the properties to others at the prevailing market price. However, many Vietnamese businessmen and operators in the field told Gulf Times that they are hopeful of the 50-year period being extended in the future. see more

Hanoi’s FDI attraction reaches $919m in nine months

In the first nine months of this year, Hanoi attracted 231 FDI (foreign direct investment) projects with a total pledged capital of $919 million, equalling to 88 percent over the same period last year, according to the Hanoi Statistics Office. see more

Real Estate Investment Fund Officially Active

Ministry of Construction (MoT) shared that real estate investment trust fund officially came into operation on September 15, 2012. This fund must guarantee the rate of 65 percent of its net asset value being invested in Vietnam real estate market. The fund needs to be used in cash and cash equivalents, valuable papers, listed stocks, traded stocks and G-bonds. see more

Vertical M&A Deals On The Rise

Most acquisitions and mergers (M&A) in Vietnam have involved companies in same sectors, but the number of vertical M&A deals is rising, says a report on M&A in Vietnam. The report by the Vietnam Competition Authority under the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced last week at the second ASEAN Competition Conference shows that M&A deals in the past were mainly done horizontally. see more
