Investors from Qatar and other countries can now buy properties in Vietnam with open ownership for a period of 50 years, as a result of opening up of the real estate sector to foreign investors. After 50 years, investors have to resell the properties to others at the prevailing market price. Ministry of Construction (MoT) shared that real estate investment trust fund officially came into operation on September 15, 2012. This fund must guarantee the rate of 65 percent of its net asset value being invested in Vietnam real estate market. Most acquisitions and mergers (M&A) in Vietnam have involved companies in same sectors, but the number of vertical M&A deals is rising, says a report on M&A in Vietnam. The report by the Vietnam Competition Authority under the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced last week at the second ASEAN Competition Conference shows that M&A deals in the past were mainly done horizontally. see more
