VietJet Air, Vietnam’s major budget carrier, spends 11.3 billion USD on new planes

In the previous few days, whole Vietnam is talking about Barack Obama’s visit to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC). On the sidelines of the American president’s visit to Vietnam, Boeing has secured an important business deal with VietJet Air. This deal includes delivering 100 of brand-new 737 MAX 200 aircrafts between 2019 and 2023.

In the press release, Boeing Commercial Airplanes president and CEO Ray Conner stated that Boeing is proud to have such impact on Vietnam’s aviation industry.

VietJet Air is forecasted to double its Y-o-Y revenue in 2016 totaling 488 million USD.

As the economy grows, the Vietnam’s civil aviation sector is experiencing positive effects, and a number of people is choosing to fly. This trend is expected to continue as the newly-ordered planes will allow better connection of cities in Vietnam and the region in the coming years, coupled with the new routes opening in only few weeks from now.
