Apple to join Samsung, LG, Intel and Microsoft in Vietnam

Apple is planning to open a regional data hub in Vietnam, projected investment around 1 billion USD
According to the official publication medium of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Cupertino-based giant is to invest a billion US dollars in a regional data hub in Hanoi.
After Apple set-up a subsidiary in Vietnam to directly import and sell its products last November, this will be Apple’s first step as an investor in Vietnam, as it follows other world-leading companies such as Samsung, LG, Intel and Microsoft which are already made significant investment in the local economy.
Samsung, Apple’s major competitor in the smart phone segment, also started investing in facilities other than manufacturing, as it started establishing R&D centers in Vietnam’s two main cities – Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
In 2014, Vietnam was Apple’s fastest growing market – with sales of iPhones and iPads skyrocketing.
