Wood exports expected to reach $3b

An increase of $320 million against the previous year.

Vietnam Timber and Forest Product Association (Viforest) announced that the timber exporting firms have already signed contracts for exporting wooden products until the end of 2010 with expected export turnover of about $3 billion, an increase of $320 million against the previous year.

Although the price of imported materials increased recently, most of the enterprises have already purchased sufficient materials for storage purposes previously; therefore they didn't suffer from negative effects.

In the first five months of this year, Vietnam estimated to achieve export turnover of $1.4 billion, up 35 percent year-on-year. Vietnam wood traders export their products to traditional export markets such as the US, Japan, China and Belarus.
